16 Straiton Place, Edinburgh

16 Straiton Place is an early 19th-century classical house with later additions. It is a single storey with a basement and features a symmetrical, 3-bay design. The exterior is made of droved and painted ashlar, with painted render on the basement and rubble on the side elevations, possibly extending to the rear. The building has a band course, cornice, and blocking course, along with broad clasping Doric pilasters. The central bay on the northeast elevation is slightly raised.

Access is via seven steps leading to a deep-set panelled door, which is topped by a rectangular fanlight made of plate glass. The doorpiece is colonnaded, with pilasters on the outer sections and Doric columns flanking the door. Each flanking bay has windows at both levels. There are later extensions added to the right and centre bays at the rear.

The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is a graded grey slate, piended, and extends over the rear extensions. The side elevations feature rendered and coped wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary walls are made of squared rubble with ashlar coping, topped with a later harled addition.
