Description
The Dundee Art Society building, located at 17 Roseangle in Dundee, is a villa dating from 1820. It is two stories high and has five bays, featuring an ashlar front and rubble sides. The entrance is marked by Doric columns and an entablature, with an arched door that has been converted into a French window, situated in a slightly advanced central bay. The building includes sash and case windows set within margins, a band course at the first floor, a main cornice, and a blocking course. Wide angle pilaster strips enhance the façade. The roof is piended and covered with slate, featuring a central dormer and end stacks. At the rear, there is a court formed by two-storey offices built of rubble with piended roofs, which include a back stair and a porch added around 1870. The boundary walls are also constructed of rubble.
Inside, the house was divided into two parts in the 19th century. The ground floor has been gutted, while the first floor still retains its plasterwork, doors, and chimneypieces.
