Description

140 Perth Road in Dundee is a villa built around 1830. It is two stories tall with a basement and has three bays, constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings.

On the north elevation, there is a shallow advanced center bay featuring a mid-19th century porch. The round-headed windows and doors are framed in an architrave, and one door may have been relocated from the front to the side. This elevation includes angle pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet. The basement on the left side is obscured by the widening of the pavement. There are two ground floor windows with architrave and cornice, while the first floor windows are set in margins. The main cornice, blocking course, and a stepped center panel complete this facade.

The south elevation appears three stories high due to the slope of the land. It has an advanced center bay where a ground floor door has been altered to a window. The center pediment on the right bay has been changed in the later 19th century to a canted window that rises through three stories. This elevation also features a cornice.

The east gable is plain and has a wallhead stack, while the west gable adjoins a later tenement. The villa has a piended slate roof. The windows are sash and case, with later two-pane windows on the north side and the canted bay, while the other south elevation windows have 12 panes.
