Description

North Lodge at Westerhall House is a gate lodge built in the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a symmetrical, single-storey structure with three bays, constructed from coursed rubble and featuring ashlar dressings. The openings are margined and have hood moulds.

On the west elevation, there is a central gabled porch that was likely added later in the 19th century. This porch is now glazed, having originally been supported by columns with trellised work, and it features an ornamental boarded gable. The original doorway behind the porch still retains its fanlight. There are single windows in the outer bays that display an unusual margin glazing pattern. The eaves course is present, and the building has symmetrically placed stacks with diamond flues, topped by a piended slate roof.

The lodge is flanked by three square, polished ashlar gatepiers that are corniced and have bell-cast caps, although the gates have been removed.
