Description

East Lodge at Archerfield is a single-storey, asymmetrical gabled gate lodge built in the mid-19th century. The structure is made of squared rubble with droved ashlar dressings and features chamfered arrises at the main openings.

On the south elevation, there is an advanced gabled bay to the left, which includes canted windows. The doorway is located in the re-entrant angle, with a window flanking it to the right. The eaves are swept to create a loggia that connects to a gabled porch on the right. The porch columns have chamfered arrises and rounded angles, and there is a decorative Jacobean stone balustrade across the loggia at the center.

The east elevation features a gabled bay with a window and recessed rear extensions to the right. The west elevation has a raised gabled bay at the center, with modern extensions to the outer left.

While modern casement windows have been inserted, some small pane sash and case lights remain. The porch has decorative timber brackets, and the south, east, and west gables feature curvaceous barge boarding and eaves brackets. Early gutter heads are still in place, and there are three circular stacks grouped at the center. The earlier roofs are covered with large slates.
