Description

Mid 19th century. Single storey asymmetrical gabled gate

lodge. Squared rubble with droved ashlar dressings;

chamfered arrises to main openings.

S ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay to left, with canted

windows. Doorway in re-entrant angle with window

flanking to right. Eaves swept to form loggia linked to

gabled porch at right. Chamfered arrises to porch

columns and rounded angles. Coped decorative Jacobean stone

balustrade across loggia at centre.

E ELEVATION: gabled bay with window. Recessed rear

extensions to right.

W ELEVATION: raised gabled bay at centre with modern

extensions to outer left.

Modern casement windows inserted, but some small pane

sash and case lights remaining. Decorative timber

brackets to porch and curvaceous barge boarding to S, E

and W gables, eaves brackets. Early gutter heads retained.

3 circular stacks grouped at centre. Large slates to

earlier roofs.
