Blue Peter Hotel, 23 Main Street, Kirkcolm

The Blue Peter Hotel, located at 23 Main Street in Kirkcolm, is an earlier 19th-century building that was remodeled in 1884. This two-storey and attic hotel features three bays and is part of a terrace. It has a painted render finish with a painted base course and painted architraved margins, along with bracketed cills to the windows.

On the west elevation facing Main Street, there is a pilastered doorpiece at the center, topped with a dentilled cornice and an angled tablet that displays the ciphered date "1884." The entrance features a panelled door and a deep plate fanlight. To the left, there is a door that has been enlarged from a window, consisting of two leaves and a deep fanlight. The ground floor has a window in the right bay, and each bay has windows on the first floor. Above the outer bays, there are two canted and piended dormer windows, each adorned with wrought-iron finials.

The south elevation is blank above the adjoining lower building, No 21 Main Street, while the north elevation is also blank above the adjoining lower building, No 25 Main Street. The windows are fitted with 4-pane glazing in sash and case style. The building features red sandstone coped skews, painted brick gablehead stacks on the north and south sides, small purple slates, and octagonal cans.
