Description
27 Main Street in Kirkcolm is an earlier 19th century single-storey and attic cottage that is part of a terrace. The exterior features painted render with a base course and slightly raised stop-chamfered margins.
On the west elevation facing Main Street, there is a door at the center flanked by windows in the outer bays. Above these outer bays are two gabled dormer windows, each topped with timber finials.
The south elevation is attached to a slightly lower building, No 25 Main Street, while the north elevation is adjoined to No 29 Main Street.
The cottage has 4-pane glazing in sash and case windows, red sandstone coped skews that are raised to the north, and gablehead stacks on both the north and south sides. The roof is covered with small purple slates and features octagonal cans.
