Description
Dashwood House, located at 2 Queen Street in Newton Stewart, is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that features shops on the ground floor. The exterior is constructed of painted coursed rubble with painted raised margins and rusticated quoins, which are chamfered at the ground level on the left side.
The central entrance boasts a pilastered doorway with a panelled door and a multi-pane fanlight above. The windows are all single light, sash and case, with 12-pane glazing. On the left gable wall, there is an inserted door to the right, accompanied by three margined windows. The rear elevation includes a tall stair window positioned above the central door. The end skews are adorned with beak skewputts, and the building features tall rusticated corniced stacks topped with octagonal cans. The roof is covered with concrete tiles.
