Description
The Granite House, located at 33 North Main Street in Wigtown, is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a shop on the ground floor, situated in a terraced street. The building features painted rubble with ashlar dressings. The shop entrance is centrally located and is flanked by large shop windows, with an additional door on the outer left. On the first floor, there are three regularly spaced windows that are grouped towards the centre, featuring plate glass glazing in sash and case style. The house has ashlar coped skews and broad granite mutual gable stacks with cans. The roof is modern and covered with pantiles, and there is a regrettable cedar-lined box dormer.
