Description
The Granite House, located at 34 North Main Street in Wigtown, is a two-storey, two-bay house dating from the early to earlier 19th century. The front is made of granite ashlar, which may be a later refronting of an earlier building, and features band and eaves courses. There are windows in both bays on the ground and first floors. Originally, there were doors flanking the ground floor windows; the left door is now blocked with granite, while the right door has a letterbox fanlight and a modern door. The house has modern UPVC windows and a slate roof. A notable feature is the mutual gable stack to the left, which is merged with the adjoining property. The house also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
