Description

Woodbine Cottage, located at 1 Abbotsford Lane in Ferryhill, Aberdeen, is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with an attic and three bays, designed in a traditional plain classical style. The exterior is constructed from random granite rubble, finely finished at the margins, featuring a base course, projecting cills, long and short dressings, strip quoins, and an eaves course.

The north elevation is symmetrical, showcasing an architraved and consoled doorway with a panelled timber door set in a pilastered surround, complete with a letterbox fanlight and three stone steps leading up to the door. There is a window in each flanking bay at the ground floor, and the first floor has regular fenestration. The attic features two canted three-light dormers on either side.

The west elevation is gabled and blank, while the south elevation was not visible in 1999. The east elevation is also gabled and blank.

The cottage predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows and has a graded grey slate roof with a lead ridge. Stone skews and coped ashlar stacks with circular cans are present, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The boundary walls include a low coped granite wall to the north, a high rubble wall to the west with pointed coping, brick coping to the east, and square-plan granite terminating piers with pyramidal caps.
