Brunswick House, 49 London Road, Stranraer

Brunswick House, located at 49 London Road in Stranraer, is a late 18th-century, two-storey house with an attic and a three-bay rectangular plan, designed in a plain classical style. The exterior features painted render with rubble on the sides and architraved openings.

On the north elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a pilastered and corniced doorway with a deep-set six-panelled timber door and a letterbox fanlight above. A single window is aligned above the doorway, with additional single windows on both floors of the flanking bays. The roof is adorned with gabled dormers.

The glazing includes plate glass and some timber sash and case windows, along with a rooflight. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, stone skews, broad rendered corniced gablehead stacks, and circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997.

The property is also enclosed by rendered coped boundary walls and gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps. There are cast-iron gates at the centered pedestrian entrance and a vehicular entrance to the garage on the outer left, along with cast-iron railings.
