Ivy House, London Road, Stranraer

Ivy House is a late 18th century townhouse located on London Road in Stranraer, currently functioning as a restaurant. The building is two stories high with an attic and features a symmetrical rectangular plan with three bays. The exterior is finished in painted render, with painted rubble on the sides and protruding cills.

The northern entrance elevation has a double forestair leading to the entrance, which is covered by a modern canopy. It includes an aluminium door and a single window on the first floor, topped with a ball finialled pediment that has a recessed roundel within it. The ground floor features flanking Palladian windows, while the first floor has single windows. The attic is adorned with gabled finialled dormers that contain round-arched windows.

The windows are timber sash and case, with 12 panes on the ground and first floors and 4 panes in the dormers, which date from the 19th century. The roof is covered in grey slate and includes stone skews, scrolled skewputts, broad gablehead coped stacks, and circular cans. The building also has prominent fire escapes.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
