Ashley House, 16 Ashley Gardens, Aberdeen

Ashley House, located at 16 Ashley Gardens in Aberdeen, is an earlier 19th century building that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey house with an attic and features three bays. The construction is of granite rubble, accented with finely finished pink granite dressings, and includes long and short quoins.

The southeast elevation is symmetrical, with a central doorway in the ground floor bay. This doorway features a two-leaf panelled timber door and a two-pane fanlight above. To the left and right of the doorway, there are later three-light canted windows on the ground floor. The first floor has regular fenestration, and the attic floor includes a modern rooflight in the centre bay, flanked by canted dormers on either side.

The northeast elevation is asymmetrical and consists of two bays, with a window located to the left on the ground floor and regular fenestration on the first floor. There is a service wing that adjoins the outer right side, which has near-regular fenestration.

The northwest elevation was not visible in 2001. The southwest elevation is predominantly blank and features a two-storey wing that adjoins the outer left side.

The house has a variety of timber sash and case windows and a modern piended slate roof with tiled ridges. The roof is topped with coped rubble wallhead stacks that have octagonal cans, and it includes cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 2001. The property is enclosed by boundary walls, which feature an iron gate on the southeast side, flanked by grey granite walls on the left and right.
