Description

31 and 32 South Main Street in Wigtown is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that has been modified to include shops on the ground floor. The building features painted rubble with ashlar dressings, including quoins, cills, lintels, and eaves courses. There is a central door that was paired in the late 19th century with an additional door inserted to the right, with shop windows on either side in the outer bays. The first floor has three evenly spaced windows, although these have been replaced with UPVC windows. The roof is finished with grey slates and includes ashlar coped skews with scroll skewputts, as well as rusticated quoins on the broad stacks. A small rooflight is present, along with skewputts at the rear and a regrettable box dormer that features a prominent vent pipe.
