Description
40 South High Street in Portsoy is an early 19th century, two-storey house with a dormerless attic and three bays, which has had a shop inserted later. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins. It features a narrow central entrance with a panelled door and a letterbox fanlight above. The first-floor windows are smaller, while the shop to the left has an enlarged window and doorway. The original windows have four-pane timber sash and case glazing, whereas the shop has plate glass. The building has coped end rubble stacks that are truncated at the south gable, flat skews with run-off skewputts, and a slate roof that includes cast-iron roof lights.
