Description
1 and 3 North High Street in Portsoy is a house from the later 18th century. It is two stories high and has three bays, featuring a central door along with an additional entrance and shop window added at a later date. The exterior is made of heavily pointed rubble, with painted tooled and polished ashlar margins and dressings.
The central entrance is framed by a corniced and fluted Ionic pilastered doorpiece. To the left of the entrance, there is a later shop door and an enlarged window that has modern glazing in timber sash and case windows. The other windows have 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The building has corniced end stacks, flat skews with run-off shaped cavetto skewputts, and a roof made of Welsh slate.
