Craiglachie, 28 South Main Street, Wigtown

Craiglachie is a house located at 28 South Main Street in Wigtown, built around 1850. It is a two-storey, three-bay symmetrical structure featuring smooth rendered walls, a raised base course, and a band above the ground floor. The central entrance has a consoled corniced architrave with a double-leaf panelled door and a fanlight above. The outer bays have tripartite windows with narrow sidelights, while the centre window on the first floor is a single light. The cellar windows are fitted with grilles. All the windows are sash and case with multi-pane glazing. The house has an eaves cornice and a blocking course topped with decorative cast-iron coping. It features corniced end stacks with octagonal cans and has good graded slate roofs. However, there is an unfortunate canted dormer at the rear.
