Mayfield, Morangie Road, Tain

Mayfield is a house located on Morangie Road in Tain, built around 1840. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features three bays. The structure is made of coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. A notable feature is the Doric columned portico, along with long and short detailing and lintel bands on the ground and first floor windows. The windows have long and short quoins and central moulded wooden mullions, except for the centre window on the first floor, which has lying pane glazing. There are also two later canted dormers, corniced and shouldered end stacks, and a shallow piended roof.

The entrance is flanked by quadrant walls that include three square gatepiers, although one is missing, each topped with ball finials. The property is enclosed by cast-iron railings attached to a low front retaining wall and has rubble garden walls.
