4 Springfield, Morangie Road, Tain

2 Springfield on Morangie Road in Tain is an earlier 19th century building constructed from rubble with tooled margins and a harled rear. It is part of a row of two-storey and attic houses, numbered 1, 2, and 3, each with three bays and central doors, with No 2 being slightly taller than the others.

The houses feature end and ridge stacks and slate roofs. There is a low retaining wall with cast-iron railings, square gate piers topped with pyramidal caps, and a cast-iron pedestrian gate.

No 1 has a glazed porch and painted margins. No 2 has a harled frontage, enlarged ground floor windows, and 12-pane glazing on the first floor windows. No 3 includes a glazed porch and a rectangular bay window on the left side of the ground floor.

Additionally, No 4 is a converted steading that is now a two-storey, four-bay dwelling positioned at right angles to No 3. Its south elevation is harled with painted margins, featuring a forestair and one window and door that have been raised through the roof with swept dormers.
