Description
Sandyknowes is a picturesque gabled cottage built in 1908, as indicated by the date on the panel above the door. It is a single storey building with an attic and features coursed squared rubble walling, with bull-faced granite margins and quoins. The cottage has an L-plan layout, including a projecting single storey gabled porch located in the re-entrant angle. The door has lugged margins and is a vertical board timber door with prominent decorative hinges. To the right of the door, there is a projecting canted 4-light window with granite mullions and a parapet. Most of the windows are bi or tripartite, also featuring granite mullions, and all have diamond-pane casement windows.
The cottage has deep timber bracketed eaves and timber finials on the gables. It is topped with steeply pitched slate roofs, which include ridge and axial stacks. At the rear, there is a single storey rubble extension that also has slate roofs.
