Description
East Lodge at Cardoness is an early 20th century Scottish Baronial lodge that features a single storey and an attic. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with sandstone angles and quoins. Its asymmetrical elevations present a rectangular shape, complemented by a round tower at the northeast angle. The east gable showcases a lugged roll-moulded door-piece, while all windows are single light, sash and case with small-pane glazing. The wallhead includes attic windows with curved dormer heads, and there is a tall projecting shouldered stack adjacent to the round tower. The lodge is topped with steeply pitched slated roofs, including a conical roof on the tower and crowstepped gables.
In addition, there are gates and gatepiers that consist of three fine rectangular plan panelled and corniced ashlar gatepiers, each topped with bold ball finials. The property is also enhanced by three pairs of high-quality cast and wrought-iron gates.
