Description

Plaque with 'Established 1776'; mid 19th century in present form. 2-storey and attic, 2-bay, rectangular-plan restaurant and tenement. Squared and snecked sandstone rubble, painted at ground. Painted base course; 1st floor band course; ashlar quoins to 1st floor; polished margins; cornice to principal elevation.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central 2-leaf panelled door with modern canopy; large flanking windows; single windows at 1st floor above; 2 canted dormers to attic.

W ELEVATION: 2 gable ends; entrance door with fanlight in centre; adjacent timber door; irregular fenestration.

N ELEVATION: not seen 2000.

E ELEVATION: extension to rear; stairs to balcony adjoining adjacent building.

Modern glazing to main elevation; 6-pane sash and case timber windows to west elevation. Grey slate roof; rendered corniced gablehead stacks; straight stone skews.

INTERIOR: not seen 2000.
