5 High Street, South Queensferry

5 High Street in South Queensferry is a mid-19th century, two-storey and attic shop and tenement with a rectangular plan. The building is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble, which is painted at the ground level. It features a band course at the first floor, an eaves course on the principal elevation, and raised margins and cills around the windows.

On the west (principal) elevation, there is a central doorway with a replacement door. To the right, a large window is located at ground level, with a single window above it on the first floor. The attic features a canted dormer. To the left, there is another single window at ground level and a corresponding window on the first floor, also with a canted dormer in the attic.

The south elevation is gabled, with a doorway positioned to the right of centre and a small window flanking it on the right. Above, there is a small single window on the first floor and another single window to the left.

The north and east elevations are adjacent to other buildings. The windows are 8-pane timber sash and case, although the ground floor has modern glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and features rendered corniced gablehead stacks and stone skews. The interior was not seen in 2000.
