Description

1786-92; later alterations at ground. 3-storey basement and attic, 7-bay classical tenement with shops at ground. Droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings; long and short quoins; eaves cornice. Steps to tenement door with 4-pane fanlight at centre; projecting modern shopfront to right with polished granite facing (incorporating door to basement restaurant); mid 19th century corniced shopfront to left with 2 large windows to left and deep-set double doorway to right with pilastered door to ground floor and subsidiary door to 1st floor; separate basement bar. 2 19th century piend-roofed timber dormers; tripartite to S, canted to N.

Timber sash and case windows; 12-pane to common stair and 1st floor right, otherwise plate glass. Ashlar coped skews; rendered stacks (brick to S).

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

RAILINGS: cast-iron railings to stairs.
