Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey and basement, 5-bay tenement with Baronial details, forming part of curved terrace. Coursed orange sandstone with grey polished ashlar dressings. Base course; string courses above groud and 2nd floors; roll-moulded round-arched doorways; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights; chamfered reveals.

N ENTRANCE elevation: consoled cornice with strapwork pediment to advanced doorway in 3rd bay; advanced single window flanking to left; advanced panel with bipartite windows to each floor above. Doorway in 2nd bay; single windows above, advanced at 2nd and 3rd floors; corbel to 2nd floor window. 2nd and 3rd bays linked by crowstepped gable. Doorway in 4th bay, flanked to left by single window; bipartite windows above; corbelled stone balcony (balustrades missing) to 2nd floor window; pedimented dormerhead to 3rd floor window. Full-height canted windows in outer bays; pyramidal roofs; wrought-iron finials. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced gablehead stack; corniced mutual stacks; moulded octagonal cans; scroll-bracketted skewputts.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

RAILINGS: cast-iron boundary railings to street and steps.
