2 Marchmont Street, Edinburgh

2 Marchmont Street in Edinburgh is a four-storey, four-bay tenement building designed by Thomas Gibson around 1878. It is part of a terrace and is constructed from coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. The building features a base course, a string course above the ground floor, a corbel table at the third floor, an eaves cornice, raised window surrounds, and chamfered reveals.

On the entrance elevation, there are chamfered arisses to the doorway located in the third bay, which has a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight. To the right of the doorway is a single window, with additional single windows above. The building also has a pedimented dormerhead with a stone finial. The second and fourth bays contain full-height canted windows with dividing cornices and facetted pyramidal roofs topped with wrought-iron finials. There are single windows in the outer left bay, along with another pedimented dormerhead featuring a stone finial. The windows throughout are plate glass sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has corniced mutual stacks.

The boundary of the property is marked by coping along the street. The interiors were not seen in 1991.
