9 Marchmont Street, Edinburgh

9 Marchmont Street in Edinburgh is a four-storey, four-bay tenement building designed by Alexander MacNaughton in 1882. It features Baronial details and is part of a terrace. The building is constructed from coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. It has a base course, a string course above the ground floor and at the second floor, raised window surrounds, and chamfered reveals.

On the west entrance elevation, there is a roll-moulded doorway in the second bay, with a single window flanking it to the left. Above, there are single windows, and a pedimented dormer head. The first bay has a full-height canted window that is corbelled to a square at the gable head, which also features a vesica set in the gable head, corbelled skewputts, and a stone finial. The third bay has a full-height canted window with a swept canopy, and the gable head is crow-stepped with a stone finial. The outer right bay contains single windows and a semi-circular pedimented dormer head with a stone finial. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, coped mutual stacks, and scroll bracketed skewputts.

The boundary coping extends to the street. The interiors were not seen in 1991.
