Description

Possibly Alexander MacNaughton, 1880. 4-storey, 5-bay Scottish 17th century style tenement. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; dividing band course above ground floor; corbel table at 3rd floor stepped down to form hood to 1st floor windows in 1st and 4th bays; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves.

W ENTRANCE elevation: 3 stop-chamfered doorways with roll-moulded details, 1 set into angled 2nd bay; deep-set panelled doors; plate glass fanlights. Single windows between each doorway. Bipartite windows to each floor of 3rd and 4th bays; pedimented and finialled dormerheads at 3rd floor. Full-height canted window in bay to outer right, corbelled to square at crowstepped gablehead; circular patera inset. 2nd 2-light bay angled and advanced; facetted pyramidal roof; cast-iron finial. Bipartite windows in bay to outer left; crowstepped gablehead. Plate glass sash and case windows. grey slate roof; corniced wallhead stack to advanced angle bay; corniced mutual stack; moulded octagonal cans; beak skewputts. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
