46, 48, 50 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh

46, 48, 50 Marchmont Road is a four-storey, five-bay tenement building designed by Thomas P Marwick in 1889. It is constructed from squared and snecked pink sandstone with polished red ashlar dressings. The building features a base course, a cill course at the second floor, and a cornice above the second floor. The third floor has pedimented dormer heads above bipartite windows, and the advanced bays have facetted pyramidal roofs topped with lead finials. The doorways are roll-moulded, with panelled doors and plate glass fanlights, and the reveals are chamfered.

On the entrance elevation, the central bay has a doorway with a single window flanking it to the left, and bipartite windows on each floor above. There is a doorway in the second bay with single windows above it. To the right, a doorway is flanked by a single window in the outer right bay, with bipartite windows above. The first and fourth bays feature full-height four-light canted windows, with dividing cill and lintel courses, a string course at the third floor, and a cornice above. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is covered in grey slate and includes a truncated wallhead stack and coped and rendered mutual stacks. The interiors were not seen in 1991, and there is a low boundary wall along the street.
