Description

107, 109, and 111 Warrender Park Road in Edinburgh is a four-storey, irregular five-bay tenement building designed by Alexander W Macnaughton in 1881. It features Baronial details and is part of a terrace, constructed from coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. The building has a base course, a band course above the ground floor, and string courses above the first and third floors. Notable architectural elements include raised and lugged window surrounds, chamfered reveals, panelled doors, and plate glass fanlights.

The entrance elevation displays three doorways located in the fourth bay, between the first and second bays, and between the second and third bays. A full-height canted window is situated in the second bay, topped with a heavily bracketed cornice and a crenellated parapet that forms a balcony to a hoodmoulded gablehead window with a crowstepped gable. There is also a full-height canted window in the fifth bay, with moulded semi-circular corbels at the cill on the third floor, and a four-light canted window at the third floor, corbelled to a square gablehead above. A small hoodmoulded window is set in the gablehead. Single windows are present in the first, third, and fourth bays, with a corniced and coped moulded wallhead stack between the latter two. The building features pediment moulding and an inset diamond-shaped panel, with plate glass sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has coped mutual stacks.

The interiors were not seen in 1991. The property has low boundary coping to the street, and some original cast-iron spearhead railings remain along the western mutual boundary.
