Description
97, 99, 101 Warrender Park Road is a four-storey, five-bay tenement building, likely designed by George McRae around 1882. It features Baronial details and is part of a terrace. The exterior is made of coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Notable architectural elements include a base course, a string course above the ground floor, bracketed cills and cornices for the first-floor windows, raised window surrounds, and architraved surrounds for the windows and doorways at the ground level. The building also has chamfered reveals, panelled doors, and plate glass fanlights.
On the south entrance elevation, the doorway is located between the second and third bays and has a painted surround. The doorway is offset to the right in the fourth bay, with a single window above it. There is a doorway with a single window flanking to the right in the first bay, with bipartite windows above. A single window is set in a crow-stepped gablehead with a stone finial. The second bay features a full-height canted window with a facetted polygonal roof and an iron finial. The fifth bay also has a full-height canted window with a lead-covered canopy, and a single window set in a crow-stepped gablehead linked to a wallhead stack behind. In the third bay, there is a bipartite window offset at ground level, with bipartites above it, and a machicolated corbel to the advanced panel above the first floor. The third-floor window has a cill and cornice, and there is a blank square tablet set in the crow-stepped gablehead with a stone finial. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, a coped and rendered wallhead stack, coped mutual stacks, and beaked skewputts. The interiors were not seen in 1991. There is low boundary coping to the street.
