Description
117-119 Warrender Park Road is a four-storey corner tenement block built in 1881 by Alexander Macnaughton, featuring Baronial architectural details. The building is constructed from coursed orange sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Notable exterior features include a base course, cill band courses, raised window surrounds, chamfered reveals, and doorways that are either roll-moulded corniced or pedimented, complemented by panelled doors and plate glass fanlights.
The elevation facing Warrender Park Road has four bays, with a fifth bay at the corner on the outer left. The doorway is located in the second bay, flanked by a single window to the right. Above, there are bipartite windows set in an advanced corbelled panel above the first floor, with a hoodmoulding above the third-floor window and a pedimented single window set in a crowstepped gablehead linked to a wallhead stack. There is another doorway in the third bay and single windows above, while the first bay features single windows. The fourth bay has a full-height canted window, and the ground floor windows have pediments. The corner bay is canted with windows on each floor.
The elevation on Marchmont Street has three bays, with an angle bay on the outer right. The doorway is in the third bay, with single windows above. The second bay features bipartite windows and an advanced corbelled panel above the first floor, a hoodmoulding above the third-floor window, and a pedimented single window set in a crowstepped gablehead. The first bay has a single window. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and pyramidal roofs with iron finials on the canted bays. There is a corniced wallhead stack to the south and a rendered wallhead stack to the west, along with coped mutual stacks and some original rainwater goods, including hoppers.
A low boundary wall runs along the street.
