Description

40 and 41 Warrender Park Terrace in Edinburgh is a five-storey, four-bay tenement building, likely designed by Thomas P. Marwick in 1880. It features baronial details and is part of a larger terrace. The building is constructed from squared and snecked pink sandstone, accented with polished ashlar dressings. Notable architectural elements include a base course, string courses above the first and second floors, and a corbel table at the fourth floor that steps down to the third floor. The round-arched doorways are adorned with rope hoodmoulds and label-stops, leading to panelled doors and plate glass fanlights set within chamfered reveals.

On the north entrance elevation, doorways are located in the second and fourth bays, with single windows flanking them on either side. Above these, there are bipartite windows, and the fourth floor features pedimented dormerheads above the single windows. The first and third floors have full-height canted windows that are corbelled to square at the crowstepped gableheads, which also include blank panels. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, with some replacements at the ground floor of No. 41. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes corniced mutual stacks, stone finials, and beak skewputts.

The interiors were not seen in 1991. The boundary features coping with replacement fencing along the street.
