Description

18, 19, 20 Warrender Park Crescent is a four-storey corner tenement building dating from around 1880, located in Edinburgh. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with polished dressings and features a base course, a string course above the ground floor, contrasting quoins, and raised and lugged window surrounds.

The elevation facing Warrender Park Crescent has seven bays, including an angle bay to the northeast and three bays angled to the northwest. It includes roll-moulded round-arched doorways with lugged surrounds and hoodmoulds in the second and third bays, leading to panelled doors and plate glass fanlights. There is a single window between the bays, and the first-floor windows are linked by a segmental-arched pediment with carved infill. Above, there are single windows and pedimented dormerheads. The fifth bay features a Venetian doorway with a panelled door and plate glass fanlight, along with single windows above and a pedimented dormerhead. The fourth bay has a four-light angle bay with a pyramidal roof and iron brattishing, while the full-height canted window in the same bay also has a pyramidal roof. The gabled seventh bay has bipartite windows in an advanced panel, with single windows in the sixth bay and a crowstepped gable above.

The elevation on Spottiswoode Street consists of three bays. The first bay features a full-height canted window with a pyramidal roof and iron finial, while the remaining bays have single windows and a pedimented dormerhead in the second bay. The third bay has a crowstepped gable above. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and various stacks including two corbelled and corniced wallhead stacks, two corniced gablehead stacks, and two corniced mutual stacks, along with beak skewputts.

The interiors were not seen in 1991. The property has cast-iron railings along Spottiswoode Street and replacement railings on Warrender Park Crescent.
