Description

135, 137, and 139 Warrender Park Road is a four-storey, six-bay tenement building, possibly designed by Thomas Gibson around 1880. It features Baronial details and is part of a terrace, with three identical bays on each side. The building is constructed of coursed yellow sandstone with polished ashlar dressings.

Architectural details include a base course, cornices over the ground floor openings except for the central doorway, a string course at the third floor, and an eaves cornice. The reveals are chamfered at the ground and first floors, and stop-chamfered at the second and third floors. The entrances feature deep-set panelled doors with plate glass fanlights.

On the south entrance elevation, doorways are located in the second and fifth bays, and between the third and fourth bays. The first floor has blinded balustraded aprons above single windows, while the second and third floors have single windows. The pedimented dormerheads are linked to wallhead stacks. A central doorway is topped with a hoodmoulded square blank panel set between the first and second floors. The third and sixth bays have full-height canted windows, and the building is capped with swept pyramidal roofs and lead finials.

Bipartite windows are present in the first and fifth bays, set within advanced gabled panels, which also feature blank heraldic shields in the gableheads and stone finials. There is a niche set between the tenements on the outer left. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is made of grey slate, with a corniced wallhead and mutual stacks, along with gabletted skewputts.

The interiors were not seen in 1991, and there is a low saddleback wall to the street.
