Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey with basement, 8-bay tenement, forming part of terrace. Lightly stugged grey ashlar with polished dressings. Base course string course at 3rd floor; architraved round-arched doorways with recessed polished granite columns; pannelled 2-leaf doors; plate glass fanlights; chamfered reveals.

N ENTRANCE elevation: steps up to doorways in 2nd, 4th and 6th bays; single windows dormerheads to 3rd floor windows; carved panel set above doorway in 4th bay. Full-height canted windows with pyramidal roofs and wrought-iron finials in 1st and 5th bays. Bipartite windows to each floor in 3rd and 8th bays; pedimented dormerheads with inset paterae and round-arched panels to 3rd floor windows. Former doorway (now window), detailed as above, at ground in 7th bay; single windows above; pedimented dormerhead to 3rd floor window. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced wallhead stacks between 2nd and 3rd bays, and 6th and 7th bays, corniced mutual stacks; moulded octagonal cans; gabletted skewputts.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

RAILINGS: cast-iron boundary railings to street and steps.
