2 Alvanley Terrace, Edinburgh

2 Alvanley Terrace in Edinburgh is a terraced house designed by David Bryce between 1869 and 1870. This three-storey, two-bay building is constructed from coursed grey ashlar with polished dressings. It features a base course, a dividing cornice above the ground floor, and an eaves cornice. The window surrounds are raised and lugged, with chamfered reveals.

On the entrance elevation, there is an architraved doorway located in the second bay, which is adorned with carved consoles supporting the cornice. The door includes a glazed upper panel and a clouded glass fanlight above it. A single window is positioned at the first floor above the entrance, and there is a pedimented dormer with a stone finial above the second floor window. The second floor also has a full-height corbelled section that transitions to a square shape, with a bipartite window and a single window set in the gablehead featuring gablet crowsteps. The house has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, corniced mutual stacks, and gabletted skewputts. A low saddleback wall borders the street.
