1, 3 Victoria Street, Edinburgh

1 and 3 Victoria Street in Edinburgh is a four-storey, three-bay tenement building designed by David Bryce in 1839. The building features shops on the ground floor and is stepped to follow the slope of the street. It is constructed of cream coursed ashlar, which is painted at the ground level, while the rear is made of random rubble. The ground floor has a consoled cornice, and the windows are set in raised surrounds, with pedimented dormers that break the eaves.

The entrance on the outer left consists of a panelled door leading to a close, while the second bay from the left has a timber panelled door with a plate glass fanlight. To the right, there is a two-leaf timber panelled door for the shop, flanked by windows. At the rear, there is an earlier two-storey, six-bay rubble building that is positioned at right angles, featuring a slated roof and a corniced end stack.

The building includes 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, is topped with graded grey slates, and has crowstepped skews. The corniced ridge stacks are equipped with circular cans.
