Description
Mid 19th century, 3-storey, 9-bay classical tenement building. Sandstone ashlar frontage, droved at basement, 1st and 2nd floors. Band course at principal and 1st floor levels, cornice and blocking course at eaves. Rusticated masonry at principal floor, with voussoirs over door and window openings. Entrance doors in 3rd, 5th and 7th bays. Regular fenestration, except for window in 8th bay, off-set to right, narrow windows in 3rd and 9th bays.
E ELEVATION: blank rubble wall, symmetrical double gable arrangement with apex stacks.
Timber sash and case windows all 4-pane except plate glass at 1st floor in 6th-9th bays and 6-pane with iron bars to basement. 4-panelled entrance doors with rectangular fanlights above. 4-panelled basement door in 3rd bay, modern door at 7th bay. Grey slate M-roof with rectangular cupola over common stair. Cast-iron downpipes framing facade. Cement rendered and coped stacks with circular cans.
INTERIOR: stone common stair, timber handrail with cast-iron balusters.
Stone steps to entrance doors with iron handrails. Rubble dwarf wall with concrete cope to street, surmounted by modern iron railing.
