6, 8, 10 Smith's Place, Edinburgh

6, 8, 10 Smith's Place is an early 19th century classical tenement featuring a 9-bay, 3-storey structure over a raised basement. The building has an ashlar street frontage, with the basement and the first and second floors being droved. There is a band course at the principal and first floor levels, and channelled rustication at the principal floor, with voussoirs above the door and window openings. The first floor windows have cills and aprons, and there is a blocking course at the eaves. The entrance doors to the principal floor and basement are located in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th bays.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with plate glass at the principal floor and basement of No 6. No 6 also features a later 2-leaf, 4-panelled door. The roof is covered with grey slate and has ashlar multi-flue stacks with circular cans.

There are stone steps leading to the entrance doors, accompanied by wrought-iron handrails. At No 6, there is a coped, coursed rubble wall with modern railings, while No 10 has spearhead railings.
