77, 79, 81 Marchmont Road in Edinburgh is a four-storey, four-bay tenement building designed by David McArthy in 1883. It is part of a terrace that reflects the Scottish 17th century style. The building is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone, featuring contrasting polished ashlar dressings. Notable architectural elements include a base course, a cornice above the ground floor, a string course above the second floor, roll-moulded door surrounds, panelled doors, plate glass fanlights, and chamfered reveals.

The west (entrance) elevation is nearly symmetrical, with three doorways and a single window in the central bays at ground level. There are full-height canted windows on the outer left and right sides, along with dividing and eaves cornices. The parapet features fielded panels and a swan-neck pediment above the outer left bay, topped with hexagonal pyramidal roofs. The central bays have bipartite windows, and the third-floor windows break the eaves in pedimented dormerheads. Above the first floor, there is a central framed and pedimented plaque, with a corbelled panel featuring a blind oculus above, which breaks the eaves and is linked to a corniced central stack.

The building has plate glass sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, corniced mutual stacks, and moulded octagonal cans. The interior was not seen in 1990. There is a low saddleback wall along the street.
