45, 47 Westgate, North Berwick

45 and 47 Westgate in North Berwick is a two-storey and attic, seven-bay symmetrical tenement built in 1899 by McArthy and Watson. The building features a squared and snecked rubble front with red sandstone ashlar dressings, while the rear and sides are constructed of brick.

On the northeast elevation, there are doorways located at the center, as well as at the second and sixth bays. The ground floor includes bipartite windows at the third and fifth bays from the left. The first floor has single lights, and the doorways are adorned with plate glass fanlights and panelled doors. The outer bays feature three-light, full-height, canted windows, complete with an eaves cornice and a light balustrade. Large gabled dormers at the outer bays have tripartite windows, with plaster and applied timber framing, barge boarding, and billet moulding. Additionally, there are three gabled bipartite dormers.

At the rear, there is a gabled stairbay at the center and flat-roofed projecting stairblocks at the outer bays, with the eastern block raised. The side gables are adjacent to neighboring buildings. The rear features sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern, small-pane upper panels, and two-light lowers at the front. The roof is red plain tiled, pitched at the front and made into a mansard at the rear. Brick stacks with deep, moulded copings are located at the mutual gables, center ridge, and rear wallheads.
