30 Marmion Road, North Berwick

30 Marmion Road is a two-storey and attic asymmetrical villa designed by Basil Champneys in 1896. The building is constructed from squared, snecked red sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a harled first floor above a string course. It has raised cills and a variety of bipartite or paired single light windows.

The south elevation has a canted stair bay at the center with a raised base course and cornice. To the right, there are two stages of three-light windows stepping down, with a blank panel between the floors at the center. The canted gable head features coped crowsteps, a bull finial, and a voussoired oculus. There is a stack flanking the right side, and to the left, a door with a fanlight and a scrolled timber canopy.

On the north elevation, the villa has a four-bay design with a full-height, three-stage, five-sided angle turret on the left. This turret is corbelled and slate hung above the ground, topped with an ogee lead roof and a ball finial. To the right, there is a single-storey advanced bay.

The west elevation includes a penticed roof projection at the center and a garage to the right. It features small-pane sash and case, as well as casement windows. The roof is covered with grey-green slate and has swept eaves, along with coped stacks.

Inside, the villa boasts good period details, including pine panelling, a timber stair balustrade with skirting to each tread, and lugged chimneypieces, one of which has a cast-iron ogee surround.
