Well Cottage, 29 Westgate, North Berwick

Well Cottage, located at 29 Westgate in North Berwick, is a house built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a symmetrical, three-bay, two-storey structure made of rubble that is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar at the front. The building features ashlar dressings, a raised base course, and rusticated quoins and cills.

On the northeast elevation, the openings have chamfered arrises with chamfer stops. There is a door canopy supported by curved corbels, along with a plate glass fanlight above a panelled door. Flanking windows are present at the ground level and in the outer bays on the first floor. A decorative wrought-iron balcony, which is small in size, runs across the facade at the first-floor cills, complemented by decorative gutter brackets.

At the rear, there are low later extensions, plain raised skews, and gable stacks. The roof is slated.
