95, 97, 99 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh

95, 97, 99 Marchmont Road is a four-storey, four-bay tenement building designed by R Roberts in 1882. It is part of a terrace that reflects the Scottish 17th century style. The building is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Notable features include a base course, a cornice above the ground floor, and a string course at the third floor. The deep-set panelled doors are complemented by plate glass fanlights and chamfered reveals.

The west (entrance) elevation is nearly symmetrical, featuring a nook-shafted doorway and a single window in the inner left bay. There are two doorways in the inner right bay, with one nook-shafted doorway to the right. Full-height canted windows are located at the outer left and right, separated by dividing cornices. The first and second floor windows have aprons, and the outer left bay is corbelled to a square in the gablehead, which also features a square floral patera inset. The outer right bay has a hexagonal pyramidal roof. The central bays have bipartite windows, with bracketted and advanced third floor windows that break the eaves in steeply pedimented dormerheads.

The building has plate glass sash and case windows, with replacements noted at No 99. The roof is made of grey slate and includes a central coped and rendered T-plan stack with shoulders at the wallhead, coped mutual stacks, moulded cans, and beak skewputts.

The interior was not seen in 1990. A low saddleback wall is present along the street.
