Description

Circa 1800. 4-storey Scottish 17th century style corner tenement,with shops at ground floor. Squared and snecked sandstone with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. Base course; cornice above shopfronts; string courses above 1st and 2nd floors.

E MARCHMONT ROAD elevation: altered shopfronts and main door at ground; chamfered angle with doorway to outer right. 5-bay above shopfronts. Full-height 2-light canted window in bay to outer left; facetted pyramidal roof; decorative cast-iron finial. Bipartite windows in 2nd and 3rd bays; stone finials to 3rd dormerheads. Single windows in 4th bay; semi-circular dormerhead to 3rd floor window. Full-height canted window in angle bay to outer right; facetted pyramidal roof with decorative cast-iron finial.

N THIRLESTANE ROAD elevation: blank at ground, 3-bay above; single windows in 1st and 2nd bays; stone finials to 3rd floor dormerheads. Full-height 2-light canted window in bay to outer right; facetted pyramidal roof; decorative cast-iron finial. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced mutual and wallhead stacks; moulded octagonal cans.
