Description
John C Hay, 1882. 4-storey, 5-bay tenement, part of Scottish 17th centrury style terrace. Squared and snecked sandstone with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. Base course; cornice above 2nd floor; long and short work to window margins; chamfered reveals; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 3 doorways at ground floor with single windows dividing; central round-arched doorway with decorative shell motif inset; remaining doorways roll-moulded with hoodmoulds. Full-height canted windows to outer left and right, corbelled to square at gableheads with inset paterae; that to left crowstepped, that to right finialled; dividing bands; aprons to windows except at 3rd floor. Bipartite windows to central bay; decorative bracketted double cill to 2nd floor window; 3rd floor window breaking eaves in shaped Dutch style gable. Single windows in remaining bays, 3rd floor windows breaking eaves in round-arched and finialled pediments.
Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced wallhead and mutual stacks; mouilded octagonal cans; beak skewputts.
