Description
Graham (Banff) Ltd is a mid-19th century building designed in the style of A & W. Reid from Elgin. This former police station is two stories high with a six-bay facade, featuring a regular five-bay arrangement where the leftmost bay is slightly set back. The exterior is made of grey granite ashlar. The central door is flanked by round-headed windows, while the outer west bay has a round-headed pend closed by a double leaf plank door. The outer right bay features a slightly recessed arcade with a window. The first floor has regular fenestration with timber sash and case windows that have four-pane glazing. The building is adorned with quoins, a wallhead cornice, and a blocking course that is raised in the center of the principal five-bay facade, topped with a slate roof.
At the eastern return gable, there is a round-headed entrance with cast-iron spearhead double gates, and a re-set plaque above that is dated 1675.
The rear of the building includes a two-story and attic residential wing that has two bays and is harled with ashlar margins. There is a glazed entrance porch from around 1900 that features Art Nouveau colored lights. This section has a single flanking window, a single first-floor window, and a canted dormer with four- and twelve-pane glazing. It also has corniced stacks and a slate roof.
Additionally, there is a long single-story and attic store at the rear, which has an entrance, small first-floor windows, a central ridge stack, and a slate roof.
