Description
9 Carmelite Street in Banff is an early 19th century house that may include elements from an earlier period. It is a two-storey, four-bay structure featuring an ashlar ground floor and dressings, with a tooled ashlar first floor, all of which are painted. There is a broad bandcourse separating the ground and first floors. The first floor has two tripartite windows, one above the entrance and one in the outer right (east) bay, both with 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The house has a single corniced end stack and a slate roof.
Inside, the former first floor drawing room, now used as an office, has a swagged and corniced plaster ceiling frieze, with similar detailing found on the carved wooden chimneypiece.
